Brief summary: I hadn’t seen this in years, but once I saw it again, I was like “whoa.” Forgot how insanely good it was.
Interview is an intense character study about a jaded journalist named Pierre (Steve Buscemi) who does an in-home interview with a well-known actress named Katya (Sienna Miller). Katya has her share of drama, which the tabloids always devour. During the interview, Katya reveals a lot of secrets and problems unintentionally (or perhaps intentionally), and then tries to cover her tracks, even when Buscemi’s character calls her on her bullshit.
Much of the film is edited to show “real-time” (90-minute movie, which takes place in 90 “real” minutes), similar to the Linklater film “Before Sunset”, or the 1995 thriller “Nick Of Time”).
There’s a lot more to the story, and I don’t want to spoil anything…. but, if you like your stories dark, intense, emotionally raw, depressing… and completely REAL, then you will definitely love Interview. Directed by Steve Buscemi.
trailer (warning– the trailer shows the film to be a lot more “fun” than it actually is… it’s dark, bitter, and there’s not a lot of laughs… but as I said before… it’s fucking stellar):
